About

About Desk Gear Hub

The people behind Desk Gear Hub, how each article about desk setups and ergonomics is put together, and what we will not publish.

What this site is

What you are looking at is a working blog. Old pieces stay up in the archive rather than quietly disappearing, including the ones that have aged badly.

We started publishing after realising that the useful information about desk setups and ergonomics existed, but only in the heads of people who had no reason to write it down. Desk Gear Hub writes it down.

The method

The method is dull and it works. Explain what happens, explain what it costs, explain what can go wrong, then stop writing.

We buy what we write about. It is slower, it is more expensive, and it is the only arrangement that lets us say a thing was not worth it.

How claims get checked and how money is disclosed is written down separately, on the editorial policy page.

What we do not do

What we do not do is predict outcomes. Nothing about desk setups and ergonomics works that way, and pages that pretend otherwise are selling something.

What we cover

  • Games. Online game sessions and the desks they happen at: posture, monitors, keyboards and setups that hold up through long nights.
  • Ergonomics. Chair height, desk height, arm angles and the measurements that matter more than the price tag.
  • Desk Setups. Layouts for small rooms, shared desks and setups that switch between work and play.
  • Monitors and Lighting. Screen distance, arms and stands, bias lighting and lamps that do not glare.
  • Keyboards and Mice. Switches, sizes, wrist angles and the input gear you touch ten thousand times a day.
  • Cables and Power. Trays, sleeves, power strips and the boring fixes that make a desk calm.

Each piece sits under exactly one heading. Readers arriving from search mostly land in games, ergonomics and desk setups, so those sections get looked after first.

Bylines

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every name links to a page listing everything else they have written.

Hollis Brandt, Ergonomics editor. Hollis spent nine years fitting office furniture for companies that bought expensive chairs and then set them up wrong. He carries a tape measure everywhere and trusts it more than reviews.

Priya Lindqvist, Desk setups writer. Priya rearranges her desk every quarter and documents each version with photos and a list of what annoyed her. She writes about small rooms, shared desks and cheap fixes.

Owen Takahara, Games and peripherals writer. Owen plays PC games most nights and has worn the legends off four keyboards. He writes about how gear and setup change long online game sessions.

Who pays for this

Hosting and research come out of the same pocket that buys the things we write about. That keeps the running costs honest and the pace slow.

Corrections

Point at the sentence. Write to info@deskgearhub.com or use the contact page. Factual errors are fixed quickly, and when a correction changes the conclusion of a piece we say so at the foot of the page rather than editing quietly.
